Our story begins with Adrian and Rosanne. They grew their own vegetables and kept bees and they started to look for a way to grow their own meat. Soon, they had five cows on their land in Flushing, MI. The cows were soon followed by sheep and the sheep were followed by chickens, then turkeys. For a while, the farm stayed a hobby, but then we (Luke and Caitlin) moved onto the farm.

Luke had been working for a plumbing and heating company for a few years but found himself growing bored and wanting both more variety and more challenge to his work. Every time we returned home to help his parents with a big event on the farm (such as harvest or butchering) he loved what he was doing more and more. He was also reading books by Joel Salatin and becoming more and more passionate about growing food naturally. Finally, we made the decision to move to the farm and try to make a living. After a year on the small farm we knew we would have to get bigger and we felt drawn to the West side of Michigan. We all moved to this 80 acre farm on July 19, 2013. Since then we have continued to work to produce healthy, natural meats and provide our animals and our customers with good food for a good life. We are happy to serve you.

Why “Provision” Family Farms?

Because we believe that God provides for us and all people in everything, and this provision is especially clear when he brings food from the earth through our labor.

He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for people to cultivate— bringing forth food from the earth: wine that gladdens human hearts, oil to make their faces shine, and bread that sustains their hearts.

Psalm 104:14-15
